Welcome to the Australian Sustainable Farming Practices Website

WE ARE CURRENTLY COLLECTING FOR THE 2008 HARVEST YEAR

You can choose to either select the WEBSITE DIRECT ENTRY or download an INTERACTIVE PDF

So please take the time to help your industry by entering your farming practices data.
Thank you to all of you who have already done this.

*****************

We are concentrating on the 2008 harvest at the moment to build a better baseline of information. However, if you can take the time to put in more than one years data set, this will help to fill the gaps in our knowledge of what conditions dictate which practices and how farming practices are changing. We do not collect financial details.

The project’s use of electronic media is aimed at minimising costs and increasing the ability of amalgamating information in as short a time frame as possible.

The grains industry has designed and built this data collection system to gather information from grain (and mixed) farmers about their farming practices. Once the data is processed,it produces an analysis report for the farm which is then returned to the farmer. This report is FREE !. These data are then amalgamated into areas (Shires / SLA) to allow analysis of farming practices in those areas.
Amalgamating the data at shire, region, state or national levels allows analyses and reports on environmental indicators, and the drivers of profit and productivity.

Today’s farming practices have established linkages with productivity and environmental effects, about which there is an increasing need to measure and report.
Such reports include:

  • Environmental: soil management and erosion risk, water use and potential for runoff or drainage, nutrient use and balances, energy and carbon management, vegetation and riparian zone management, integrated pest management practices.

  • Productivity: yield, fertiliser use and nutrient use efficiency, water use efficiency, pesticide use profile, time of sowing, fallow use, stubble management, precision agriculture usage, and many more.

Enter your data using either of the above two methods. If you have already submitted data, you can contact us and we will send you a prefilled PDF with your previous data so that you can just update it.
We have tried to keep it as simple as possible, because we know that you don't really want to fill out another form. However, it is important, because the industry doesn't have this data.

There is a "How to fill in the Data Form" file available here

IF YOU ARE HAVING ANY TROUBLE PLEASE READ THE 'TROUBLESHOOTING' page.
